Aadhaar program was launched in the year 2009 with an objective to provide the universal identity to every Indian. Initially, people find difficulties in the stages of enrollment, people faced many difficulties such as incorrect data, technical issues etc. At the same time, the importance of Aadhaar was unclear.
However, with the passage of time, the issues were resolved and people can get the card easily as its acceptance mandatory documents for various initiatives has officially made. One of the largest benefits is to reduce the corruption since every individual carries a unique number.
Direct benefit transfer
The Aadhaar number is used to get LPG subsidy amount directly in the bank account. This DBTL scheme is known as PAHAL. To get this benefit you need to visit your area’s distributor and get Aadhaar number linked to 17 digit LPG consumer number.
Jan Dhan Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana which is a Guinness world record holder scheme requires only Aadhaar number to open a bank account. Although you need to produce other documents as well. The benefits offered are RuPay card, free zero balance saving account, life and accident insurance etc.
Get your passport in 10 days
It is one of the biggest benefits that will relieve you the most! Having an Aadhaar number you will get your passport in just 10 days. According to this format, police verification will be done at a later date as compared to the previous rule requiring police verification as it was time-consuming.
The government has launched a scheme digital locker system for everyone for storing all personal documents on the government’s server. In order to sign-up process, you need to link your 12-digit Aadhaar card number.
Voter card linking
As on 9 March 2015, Aadhaar card UIDAI number would be linked to voter ID. This action is taken in order to eliminate the bogus voters. Once the Aadhaar card is linked, it would become impossible for a multiple vote ID cardholders. The registration process requires voter cardholder to be physically present.
The pensioners need to register their Aadhaar number from their respective states to their respective department to get their monthly pension.
Like a pension, provident fund amount will be given to the account holder which has registered their Aadhaar number with EPF account.
Opening an account in the bank
You can open a bank account with the Aadhaar letter issued by UIDAI is now acceptable by banks as a valid proof to open a bank account. It also serves as an address proof as well provided an address on Aadhaar card. Simply you do not need to put the bunch of papers to open a bank account.
Aadhaar linked is another initiative launched by Department of Electronics and IT named as ‘Jeevan Praman for Pensioners’, under this system the pensioner had to physically present at Pension Disbursing Agency to get the pension.
Aadhaar is considered as a proof of address when it comes to Securities and Exchange Board of India for making an investment in the stock market. Now it is used by SEBI as ID proof.
Considering the increase of acceptance of Aadhaar card it must for everyone to get it issued. It is believed that the card is further given more importance as more and more government schemes are being launched.
