Aadhaar Card in Assam: The twelve digits unique identification number issued to the citizens of India by the Unique Identification Authority of India (under the Government of India) in 2009 is the Aadhaar Card.
This card is one of the most vital documents of an Indian citizen so as to provide them with a universal identification number and so, this is linked to all the official documents of an Indian citizen.
There is no age limit for getting an Aadhaar Card – all people starting from a newborn to a senior citizen, everyone can avail the facilities of an Aadhaar Card.

And Aadhaar Card was manually handed over to the applicants back then – probably to the head of the particular household. But today, UIDAI has launched an E-Aadhaar portal which provides the provision of downloading Aadhar card online after going through the registration process.
This is a rather simple and effective measure, thus allowing easy access for the applicants.
The process of Aadhaar card enrollment began in October 2018. The process was suspended till late cause the National Register of Citizens had to be updated to store information on resident Indians.
- The entire process is now ramped up and expedited to implement the unique identification scheme for all residents of Assam.
- Assam is divided into 10 zones, including over 1200 enrollment centers across its 33 districts.
- Deputy Commissioners have been appointed as Enrollment agencies, who will supervise the entire process of Aadhaar card registrations.
The Aadhaar card collects the biometric as well as the demographic information of the Indian residents. This 12-digit Aadhaar number unique identification number is considered to be a proof of residence. The Aadhaar card can be applied for in any of Aadhaar service centers, post offices, banks, etc.
The Indian residents need to submit their iris scan, personal photograph, fingerprints as part of the biometric details and their name, residential address and date of birth as part of the demographic information; mandatory for the unique identity, ‘Aadhaar’. The steps for registration can be followed as mentioned below.
- By visiting the Aadhaar enrolment center, or post offices or banks.
- Duly filing the enrolment form,
- Submitting your demographic and biometric data,
- Proof of identity, and proof of address.
Post this you get the Aadhaar acknowledgment slip that mentions your Enrolment number.
The status of the Aadhaar card can then be checked online or through registered mobile numbers using the Enrolment Identity number. Aadhaar enrolment is absolutely free of cost.
